In the leafy suburb of Alphington, just a short distance from Melbourne's bustling city center, lies an architectural masterpiece called Home Alphington. This 16-story residential complex boasts Terrace Homes, Sky homes, and Apartments designed to elevate everyday living. One of its most striking features is a rooftop pool by Aloha Pools that not only offers breathtaking views of the Melbourne City skyline but also serves as a signature design element and marketing highlight for this new development. The rooftop pool at Home was conceived to be a resort-style oasis, offering residents a serene escape with a visual connection to the city on the horizon. To achieve this, the pool's design incorporated expansive acrylic panels that beautifully merge the building and the swimming pool. These panels not only provide a retaining structure for the pool water but also act as a unique wind barrier, protecting the internal communal spaces from the elements.

The pool's allure is further enhanced by its stunning dappled blue mosaic tiles, which elegantly blend with the skyline. These tiles create an illusion of an endless horizon, transforming the pool into a sparkling jewel atop the magnificent communal living space. As residents relax in the pool, they can immerse themselves in the beauty of the cityscape, harmonising urban living with natural surroundings. Constructing such an architectural marvel came with its fair share of complexities. The addition of pre-cut acrylic panels and the unique geometry of the pool structure posed challenges in terms of site logistics and mobilisation. The swimming pool structure was acoustically and structurally isolated from the main building, adding further intricacies to the project. Extensive engineering modelling was required to account for additional wind loads on the panels. To manage expansion and contraction, the pool opted for three equally segmented units rather than a single panel. Stainless-steel structural mullions were introduced to provide additional support to the panels, ensuring their longevity and stability.

When viewed from street level, the rooftop pool at Home creates a captivating optical illusion of floating above the building. This captivating visual aspect seamlessly integrates the pool within the urban landscape, enhancing its overall appeal and making it a true architectural marvel.

Home in Alphington presents an exceptional rooftop pool that transcends the ordinary, offering residents a luxurious oasis in the heart of the city. With its breathtaking views, expansive acrylic panels, and dappled blue mosaic tiles, this rooftop pool embodies the epitome of communal living. It serves as a testament to the remarkable fusion of design, engineering, and aesthetics, creating an unrivalled experience for those fortunate enough to call it home.
